DRS Designs Challenge #172 Put It In Neutral

Good morning!
The challenge this week is to use neutrals.

I stamped the dandelion with latte ink and then stamped the sentiment in black.  I edged the oval and sponged on the embossing and die cuts with Tea Stain Distress ink.
Added to this card is foam tape to pop up layers, black pearls and ribbon for the bow.
The dies are from Sue Wilson and the embossing folder is from Cuttlebug.

ODBDSLC #236 Scripture Challenge

Good morning!
Today starts a new challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs-The Scripture challenge.

ODBD stamps used: God Verses, Elegant Oval Frames, He Watches Me
ODBD dies used: Sparrow, Ornamental Crosses, Fancy Foliage, Elegant Ovals
ODBD paper used: Shabby Rose
I went with the soft greens in the Shabby Rose paper to build my card around.  The Elegant Oval Frames stamp was done in a light sage green and then cut out with the Elegant ovals die.  I stamped the God Verses on top, lining it up with a stamp aligner.
The little flowers (there are five of them) are from the Ornamental Crosses die.  I added Flower Soft to the centers. I die cut the sparrow after stamping and coloring.  My purple thistle is on the pink side to go better with the roses on the paper. I also used Stickles on my thistle.
The Shabby Rose paper is zig zag stitched around the edges to a tan panel then black.
Also used is a light sage ribbon for the bow and foam tape to pop up some layers.

Matt. 6:26
Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?  v.33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

DRSDesigns Challenge #171 Bloomin' Beautiful!

Good morning!

DRS stamps used: 671L Daisy Basket, 349F Butterfly Greeting, 342P Checkerboard Background.
I used Iridescent white embossing powder to emboss the checkerboard background, just to give some texture. I used a flip/swing card die from Sizzix to make this card.  I out the sentiment on the back, which flips to the front when open. I used the Daisy basket to make the front (which flips to the back when open).  All that's added is a bow, some little decorative trim and tiny butterflies with pearl heads.  I love this kind of card!  You can actually make your own flip card. There is a tutorial at SCS here.
Hope you have a great day creating and join in the challenge.  To see all the designers samples and to join in the challenge, click HERE.

ODBDSLC #235 Inspiration Challenge

Good morning!
Today starts a new challenge at ODBD!! The challenge is to make your card with inspiration from the photo below. Please join us!

ODBD stamps used: God Quotes
ODBD dies used: Doily, Umbrella
ODBD paper used: Shabby Rose
I wanted to make my umbrella like the one in this photo, folded up with lots of goodies hanging out so I used a scoring board and made accordion type folds in my umbrella, tied a ribbon around it and added a bit of lace to the top.  I made this card a twisted easel card. I used the doily die to make my card base and front and the inside part of the doily die with the Shabby Rose collection paper for the decoration on the circles.  On the inside, I used a rose as a stop.
I filled the umbrella with pre-made flowers and some branches from a Spellbinder die.  I made the little nest with fiber on a 1/2" glue dot and added turquoise beads as eggs.  My card front has lace around the edges.  I was thinking of using paper lace but the bottom would not have laid down on the card inside when open.

Please visit my design team sisters to see all the samples for this week's challenge.

Song of Solomon 2:12-14
The flowers appear on the earth; the time for singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land. 13, The fig tree puts forth her green figs, and the vine with the tender grapes give a good smell.  Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away! 14, O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, in the secret places of the cliff, let me see your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.
I know that this is suppose to be Solomon's words to his wife but I think God has them in His word as a love song to us. He sees us as the bride of Christ, lovely and fragrant. He sings to us a love song, wooing us to Him.  He loves to hear us sing to Him, talk to Him and He loves for us to seek His face. He is my friend, my deepest love, my savior and my Lord.
He is creator of all the earth and heavens above and He loves me!

Spellbinders 3-D Embossing Folders Review

To see this review in full, click here. The folders I received for review were the waves and the ropes.  I found both were perfect for the nautical look and the ropes were wonderful for the western theme!
The ropes embossed really well and were easy to ink afterward.  The waves took a little more care.  The paper wanted to crack a bit even after misting.  But the results were still fantastic as you can see and they were easy to sand or ink after embossing.  You can use a Cuttlebug or other like cutter.  Use the base plate, c plate and the folder, no B plate.  The folder acts like the B plate.  It works perfectly.  You do NOT need a special machine.
I think that these folders would be wonderful with very thin metal as well.  My next project using these folders will be with metal, just have to try that!
My opinion is that most people will really like the results that they get from these folders!

DRS Challenge #170-Color Challenge

Good morning!

I started out by painting my background with sponges and acrylic paint, using the colors in the design seed. I die cut it and lined it with a silver leaf pen.  I stamped the angel on the painted background and then again on another piece of cardstock and colored her with Copic Markers then cut her out. I stamped the sentiment on silver and die cut to match image panel.  I used a new Spellbinder die I got and used a dark gray then lined it in back with a lighter gray. I set pink pearls in all the cross sections then attached a pretty, sheer, pink bow.

ODBDSLC #234 Sketch Challenge

Good morning!
The challenge starting today is a sketch (see below).  I made mine a square.
ODBD Dies: Beautiful Borders

I stamped the Amazing Grace hymn on a piece of the Shabby Rose collection paper.  I also stamped the How Sweet The Sound sentiment on the Shabby Rose.  All the decorative papers today are from the Shabby Rose collection.
Other embellishments are pre-made roses and leaves and some sheer ribbon.  I sewed each layer to matching card stock then foam taped it all together.

Matthew 10:42 And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward.  Luke 6:35 But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High...
God has our reward.  We may receive reward here on earth but His reward in heaven is much greater.  Seek His Kingdom first, give your way to Him, live your life according to His word and always go about doing good like Jesus did...you may not get any thanks or recognition here on earth but you can be sure that God sees everything and He has treasures for you in heaven.  After all, your life after this short one here on earth, is for eternity...that is the life you should be working to receive rewards in. This life is over in an instant compared to eternity...what have you decided about Jesus?  He is either who He said He is, the son of God, the Messiah, the way, the truth and the life or He is the biggest liar and nut case in history...you have to decide.
When your life ends here on earth, the only thing God will ask you is "Did you believe my Son, Jesus is the Savior and rose from the dead for all man".  Pray right now... Lord, forgive me of my sin and come live in my heart.  I believe You are the Christ and You died for my sins then rose again never to die again.  Make my heart new and help me to live for You.
If you don't have a Bible, contact me and I'll see what can be done.

DRS Challenge #169-Birthday Blues

Good Morning!
Today starts a new challenge at DRS Designs!!
I have made this cute, different fold birthday card since the challenge is Blue Birthday.

This is called a Square Joy fold card.  The base is 6 1/2" X 4, scored at 2 1/2" to make a 4 X 4 card.
The inside/outside smaller card is 3" X 6" scored at 3" to make a 3 X 3" card.  When closed, you can add a small embellishment on the bottom left to keep your card closed (I used a double layer of foam tape to make the embellishment high enough to get the tip of the smaller inside/outside card in and out easily).  I used the new Rest of your life sentiment (385F Best of the Rest), inside the 2 1/2" flap and the 365B Hey Cupcake plus 1145B Enjoy Today on the inside of the small inside/outside card.
Now, decorating the outside of both the base and smaller card, I used the 463D cupcake with 1081A Happy Birthday for the top of the small card.  For my embellishment "hold", I used a button with floss tied in a bow on top of circle die cut cardstock.  The other decorations are my confetti of sequins and some rick rack. I added a white back to my base so that it matched the white trim on the small card top.  So my finished card size is 4 1/4" X 4 1/4".

ODBDSLC #233 Color Challenge

Good morning!
The challenge this week is color (see below).

ODBD stamps used: God Quotes, Tulip Corner

I pretty much used all the colors this week.  I used the new lacey squares and umbrella dies this week as well!! Love these new dies! I also decided to add some cut spring flowers to the mix and used the tulip corner (I cut it apart to make it look like flowers placed on the table or something like that anyway!) I love the new God Quotes and God Verses as well and used the God Quotes today! What a great anniversary set!  If you missed it, we celebrated Our Daily Bread Design's 7th anniversary in March.

Psalms 37:4-6
Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.  Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.  He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.
Gal. 6:9
And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

DRS Challenge #168 Hot Trends-April Showers!

Good morning!
Time for a new challenge.
Today we are starting our April Showers challenge at DRS Designs.

This card is called a Double Dutch fold.
I started by using Resist on the raindrop background then used a Brayer to apply the ink from a rainbow ink pad.  The darker the ink gets as brayering, the better the rain shows up.  I stamped the broken fence on another piece of scrap white, colored and cut out then glue it to the rain background.
On the bottom part of my card with the gate fold has a sentiment on the left and I used the umbrella with foam tape for my "catch".  It keeps the card closed when shut. When you open the doors you see the cute rainbow sentiment and Leonard waving hello!
I hope you have enjoyed this "different" fold card!
