DRS Challenge #224 It's A New Day

Good morning!
Time for a new challenge.
Our challenge today is to make a card and use the word "DAY" in it.
It's as simple as that!

I made my background with what I call a dip and drag method.  I spray some inks (I mostly use Dylusions) onto a piece of foil or a kraft sheet, spray with plenty of water (the inks are very intense) and then dip my cardstock panel into it and drag it off.  If I don't get full coverage just dip it again.  The ink is so watery that it flows and mixes together creating a pretty background and different every time.
I then stamped and colored 3 balloons and cut them out to use on my sunrise/sunset sky. I stamped the sentiment with the word "day" in it with VersaFine ink because it is so nice and black (VersaFine is pigment so you have to be careful not to use it on glossy unless you will emboss it).  Each balloon is at a different height using layers of foam tape.  I used a cloud die on vellum for a bit of extra interest.
The last thing I did was to add black stitching all the way around my decorated panel and mount it to a folded white card.

You will find a Linky there for your own creation.
One more thing...there is a sale going on until April 30th at the DRS online store HERE.

DRS Challenge #223-Color

Good morning!
Today is a color challenge!

DRS stamps used: 1092H Dogwood Branch, & 203B Just Because.
I stamped the branch all over my panel and then die cut the center.  The center flower was colored with Copic Markers.  I die cut the pink frame with two nesting dies.  The top black and white was popped up with foam tape and each side wrapped with the sheer pink ribbon then adhered to another pink panel.  I added my center flower in through the circle opening and glued it flat (no foam tape). Everything was then glued to a white folded card base and my pink bow was added along with my pink circle frame.  The Just because was stamped and die cut then sponged on the edges with pink ink. I foam taped it on top of the circle window and Ta-da, done!
Here are the colors to choose from.

ODBDSLC273 Recipe Reminder

Good morning!
Our challenge is on going until May 1st
So if you haven't submitted a card, you still have lots of time!!

The challenge is a recipe challenge.   The recipe is to use 4 items, materials or techniques beginning with each letter in ODBD.
For example:
 O-Our Daily Bread Designs stamps
 D-daisies, dots
 B-bling, buttons, and bow
 D-diamonds, dog, double stitched
------------------------------------------------------
My card recipe is:
O=Ornamental Crosses
D=Dresden Quilt stamp
B=Buttons
D=Double Stitched Squares

ODBD stamps used: Dresden Quilt, Grace's Hope

I used the pre-cut, pre-scored card from ODBD to make this Americana quilt card.  Adding decorative paper from the Americana Quilts Collection to each panel and my quilt to the square center panel worked perfectly!! I used the snall flowers from the Easter Egg die set along with the Lovely Leaves flourish to decorate the front and Added the Cross and Keys to the other inside center panels because Christ is the key!
My sentiment and ornate sentiment topper is from the recently release Anniversary sets in honor of Grace Nywening, our Design Team sister bread stick who is courageously battling cancer!!
The corduroy buttons were bought (I think Bo Bunny).  A few pearls were added as well to complete this card.
Visit my Design Team sisters for more inspiration!!

Mother's Day at ODBD-New Release

Good morning!
Today we are showing some new April release stamps and die...available now on the ODBD store site HERE.

For this first card, I used ODBD new stamp set, Homemade Pie and the die set, Baking Tools, and Log Cabin Quilt Die along with favorites, Doily,  Double Stitched Circles, Double Stitched Rectangles, and  Blushing Rose Paper Collection.
I stamped, colored and cut out my pie and popped it up onto my circle and doily I( I cut two doilies, one white and one print, then off set the two).  My Blushing Rose paper and ivory frame was cut with the Double Stitched Rectangles.  The Baking Tools were cut with the dies and inked then I stamped my Mother's Day sentiment and cut it with the Log Cabin Quilt die then stamped the Happiness is Homemade and cut with the Double Stitched circle.

I've used the Star Quilt with the pretty Cozy Quilt paper to make a table clothe for my pie to sit on (the doily underneath is a bit of lace).  I used the Layered Lacey Squares die for the table clothe lace.  I used the Baking Tools die to cut out the cookie sheet and utensils then inked them. The rectangles were cut with the Flourished Star Pattern and Double Stitched Rectangles.

I hope you like these new Mother's Day specials!
You can see more sample on the website.

ODBD April Reminder

Good morning!

Today we are taking a look back at Our Daily Bread Designs April Release, here are the cards I created.  For more inspiration using the April Release be sure to visit the ODBD Blog.

This first card uses the new Dresden Quilt stamp and the All Mothers stamp set.   I also used the Log Cabin quilt die (for the sentiments), the Double Stitched Squares, Squares, and Layered Lacey Squares.

Because I wanted this to look like a baby card, I used the cute Swiss dot embossing folder (Cuttlebug) and colored in baby room colors (they are actually a bit softer than this photo).  It just screams baby girl to me! My first born was a girl and I loved things like this for her crib.  The All Mothers stamps set has every family name for women and they fit perfectly in the small rectangles of the Log Cabin Quilt die.

For an extra card today, I made this Star Quilt easel card.
The quilt dies are so fun to play mix and match with and the new papers are like going into a fabric store and seeing all the calico prints perfect for quilting.
I love the colors too! Soft sagey/aqua green, peach, and tan, and an assortment of other lovely colors for a real homey feel.
On this card, I used the Beautiful Borders die as a lace trim and mitered the corners, the Squares and Double Stitched Squares, Star Quilt, The Cozy Quilt paper Collection and Grace's Strength stamp set.
I cut the Star Quilt out of Aqua, very light peach, peach and the Cozy Quilt paper then pieced it the way I liked it.  In the print paper there is a tan as well that I used for my card base.  I cut a square larger than the quilt to mount the quilt to then cut 4 borders and glued them on, over hanging on both ends of each side (necessary for mitering).  Take a ruler and a craft knife to cut through both layers of border then cut away the pieces you don't need, you should be left with a nice mitered frame look.
For the easel to stay open I pop up a layer on the inside to use as a stop.
Thanks for visiting today!

Please hop along with us to see all the beautiful creations made with the April release.

Americana

Good morning!

How about the 200+ year tradition of Americana Quilts!
Today I am featuring two Log Cabin Quilt cards with the new Americana Quilt paper collection and the Quilted With Love stamp set from ODBD.

My first card is a "picture of" the whole quilt (in miniature) with lace edges and everything!  It is covered on one end with a floral bouquet made with the Birds & Nest die set, Fancy Foliage and Prills (white-by US Artquest).  I've added baby buttons on each corner dressed with white floss and my sentiment cut with Filigree Frames and embossed with blue foil embossing powder.
These quilts are so fun to make with each piece cut separately you can mix and match all you want to.

My second card is inspired by the Splitcoaststampers sketch challenge (4/13/16).
I made two Log Cabin Quilts next to each other on a piece of white card stock and then cut them down to 5 1/4" by 3 1/5 to fit in my element 1 space.  The rest I made with left over paper from my quilt cut outs and from red linen card stock and white.  This is just a portion of the "large quilt" in my mind anyway! LOL!  I made my flower with the Pretty Posies die set and white mulberry paper, scrunched and folded in quarters then glued together (two medium and one small).  The edges are tipped in Red Brilliance.  I used the Circles and Double Stitched Circles to cut my sentiment.

Thanks for visiting today and I hope this will inspire the inner quilter in you!!

Verse for today
The Risen Christ, Faith’s Reality ] Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,

DRS Challenge #222-2+2+2

Good morning!
Time for a new challenge.
This time just pick 2 each of 3 things...I've chosen 2 birdhouses, 2 birds and 2 branches.

I also used Spellbinders curved borders and circle die, My Favorite Things stitched circle die, 3M foam tape and ribbon.
When I cut out my picket fence I cut the bottoms along each picket so that it would bend with the border, it makes it look like a rickety old fence.
I stamped the birdhouse branch first then masked the leaves to stamp the lovebird branch.  I usually use a post-it note to do my masking, it works great and you can reuse the mask multiple times.
I hope you will join in the challenge this week, remember there is always a prize!!! Click HERE to see the other samples and to submit your own entry.

Thanks for visiting today and may God bless you!

ODBDSLC273-Recipe

Good morning and welcome to another ODBD challenge!!
The challenge this month is to make a card using the letters O, D, B, D
 My card for this challenge uses:
O=Our Daily Bread Designs Paper
D=Dresden Quilt Die, Doily
B=Button, Border cut
D=Die cuts, Double ribbon
ODBD stamps used: Grace's Strength
ODBD paper used: Cozy Quilt Collection

For this card I started with a light sagey green base and then built up adding the peachie layer and white border cut with the Leafy Edged Border.  I then cut a white doily, cut two remaining scallops from the border into corners, cut my quilt from two decorative ODBD papers out of the Cozy Quilt Collection and a dark green quilt (for the outline), (I cut away the frame part of the quilt). I also cut two Filigree Frames, one white and one dark green.  I put my quilt outline down on a piece of scrap so that I had a base to glue my pieces onto. When I was finished piecing my quilt I glued the doily to the bottom to show just a bit and sandwiched my Filigree Frames between quilt and doily.
I love the new sentiments and verses from ODBD Anniversary collections honoring Grace and her fight against cancer so I used one from Grace's Strength on my card today!  I finished by adhering my green base to a white folded card and then making my double ribbon bow topped with a button tied with floss.

This challenge is a recipe challenge.   The recipe is to use 4 items, materials or techniques beginning with each letter in ODBD.
For example:
 O-Our Daily Bread Designs stamps
 D-daisies, dots
 B-bling, buttons, and bow
 D-diamonds, dog, double stitched

Please visit my design team sisters for more inspiration.

 Participants have until May 1 to link their creations, HERE.  There will  be a $15 gift certificate  toward stamps for one random winner.

Who have we to trust in but our God?  There is no one else who could speak the universe into existence.  Who but our Lord raised the dead, spoke healing, touched eyes that had never seen, ears that had never heard and made them new again.  Doctors try to help us but they can only do so much.  Only One formed us in our mothers womb, One knows the number of hair we have, One has given us our days before any of them had yet come. ( Psalm 139:13-16)
"For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them".
I'm with Job when he said (Job 13:15)
"Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him"
 I trust the God who so LOVES me that He sent His only Son to die in my place.

(John 3:16)

 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life".

ODBD April New Release

Good morning!
Time for the April New release blog hop!!
Oh you quilters are going to love these new dies and stamp sets.

My first card is an easel card to show off the new Dresden die AND the new Dresden stamp set (featured inside under the sentiment).
My sister is recovering from a broken collar bone so I will be sending this card to her.

ODBD paper used: Cozy Quilt Collection
I cut the Dresden Quilt pieces from 3 papers out of the Cozy Quilt Collection and from white then pieced them in the way I wanted them on top of a light sage green cardstock.  I  cut the green cardstock with the Double Stitched Squares and the rectangle piece underneath with the Double Stitched Rectangles.
To elongate a rectangle, place the top plate of your cutting sandwich just to but not covering the bottom horizontal cut (the die will ONLY cut where the top plate is), then, after your first cut, take the die out and place it on the cut but further down and place the top plate so that it cuts only the extra length and not across the horizontal top.

 You can see the top plate does NOT go over the end.  I use removable tape to hold my die in place.

To make this vertical easel card, cut your 8 1/2 X 11 cardstock into 2 pieces 11 X 4 1/4.  Using one piece as a base, score at 5 1/2" and then again at 8 1/4". Cut the other piece in half at 5 1/2" and use one piece for your front (top).  Glue to just the 2 3/4" end so that the ends are even and card folds down to 5 1/2 X 4 1/4".
On the inside you will need something popped up to act as a "stop" to hold your card open.

Base

My next card is the Star Quilt.  I love this quilt design!
I am not a quilter so there is a lot I need to learn about pattern placement but
now I have this die to play with I will be doing a lot of experimenting!!
ODBD stamps used: All Mothers
I used a light green and a dark green with tan to coordinate with the colors in the Cozy Quilt papers on this card. The sentiment was cut with one of the rectangles in the Log Cabin Quilt die. The ribbon is died to match seam binding.

Here are some verses about the body of Christ-His church.  Remember to love one another and work together to further the kingdom of God here on earth.

4:15-16
15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ from whom the whole body, joined and stitched together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.

that their hearts may be encouraged, being stitched together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ,
