ODBD May Mid Month Reminder

Good morning!

Today we are taking a look back at Our Daily Bread Designs  May Mid Month Release.  For more inspiration using the May Mid Month Release be sure to visit the ODBD Blog.

It's cowboy country!!

ODBD stamps and dies used for this card.
Ride Em Cowboy, Double Stitched Circles, Sunburst Background, Double Stitched Rectangles
This cowboy is witnessing God's handiwork at sunrise!  What a beautiful sky God has created and it seems to be just for him!

I stamped my cowboy on white using my Misti and Versafine Black ink.  Because it is a silhouette stamp I thought it best to stamp it more than once to get a really good black image.
I then cut him out at the top and left some hills/mountains to set against the sunrise sky.  I colored them in various shades of purple.  Before I glued my image to the sunburst sunrise sky, I added a circle for the sun using my Double Stitched Circles (the sun rays were done using the sunburst bg die.)
I created the bottom part of this easel card to match the colors on top and stamped it with one of my favorite verses from this beautiful set.  This card is perfect for your favorite guy on Father's Day.
Hubby loves it!!

This next card is sunset in the desert.
I tapped Distress inks on foil then sprayed with water and then dunked my cardstock into it (times 2).  I let those dry and then stamped my Howdy image using my Misti onto one of them.  I die cut it using the Double Stitched Rectangles, then lined it with black.  I used the other inked panel as a background along with black cardstock cut with the Double Stitched Rectangles as well.  The Howdy and Cactus are from the Howdy set too and I stamped them with my Misti as well.  I stamped an extra cactus and cut it out, outlining with black so that no white edges would show.

My embellishments for this card is just some Baker's Twine wound around the layers (before adding it to a card base) and then making a little "wound cowboy rope" at the end.

My husband loved these cards!! He loves the beauty of God's creation and especially the gorgeous skies that God creates.
Thanks for visiting today and may God bless you!!

DRS Challenge #228 Play Ball!

Good morning!
Time for a new challenge at DRS Designs.
Any sport related card that has a ball in it.
I also used one of my favorite, go to sketches for this card as well. For the plaid pants I just did a little masking to avoid the rest of Duff.  He is cut out so I did not have to do a full reverse mask.  I made him gray headed (as always) because, number one, my husband has gray/white hair (he was very salt and pepper already at age 30 so it must be hereditary) and the second reason, Golf seems to me a game you play when you finally get to retire!  I know that is not true because it is a favorite even of my son but it is just stuck in my brain that way!
My background stamp in this case is the main focus...Everything Golf!
I used some Pierced dies for my layers, I did NOT hand pierce everyone of those holes!  I know lots of companies have them now days but mine are from Our Daily Bread Designs.
To join in the challenge this week for any sport with a ball, please click HERE.  You will also see all the other designer's samples for this challenge as well.
In fact, there is a new card featured each day at the DRS blog site!  You can go and see new ideas every day if you want to.
Thanks for visiting today!!

DRS Challenge #227 Color

Good morning!
Time for a new challenge.

It's a color challenge!!
DRS stamps used: 947F  Golf Bag, 451L Birthday Candle Burst, new release Birthday Greeting.
I chose the 3 greens and added a couple more colors.
I cut 2 frames (My Favorite Things) and off set them over my white folded card.  Before I foam taped them down I stamped my sentiment and birthday candles.  My frame for the golf clubs was done with Color Burst in dark green and light green with a bit of yellow.  I die cut my golf bag with a Spellbinder nesting die and die cut my frame made with the Color Burst. I then mounted it on top of my frame adding foam tape to the right side of the oval to keep it even.  That's it!!  Easy card to make.

I hope you will join us this week and enter for a chance to win.  Submit your card HERE at the DRS blog site where you will also see all the other designer cards!!

Thanks for visiting today and have a blessed day!

ODBD Mid May Release

Good morning!
And ride em cowboy!
Today we present the new guy stamps, just in time for Father's Day!!
Both my cards today feature the "Ride Em Cowboy" stamp set.
My first card uses the Double Stitched Circles and Circles for the sentiment as well.  My borders are made from a cool southwestern ribbon I happen to have along with some square copper brads.  I also had a cute button that looks like a pair of boots as embellishment.

My second card is done on ODBD decorative paper from the Vintage Ephemera Paper  Collection.  I framed it with jute and made a wound rope as an embellishment using a 1/2" glue dot.  The bottom is real leather fringe I bought at a fabric store.   Believe it or not, the horses are a button that I cut the shank off of.   These two cards are super simple and fast to make for your favorite guy!!

See all the samples for this collection at the ODBD blog.

ODBD May Reminder

Good morning!
Today we are taking a look back at Our Daily Bread Designs May Release.

This card is in honor of all my "Red Hat Lady" friends out there.
These ladies have a great time having tea or lunch together.  "In 2011, the RHS started a process of nominating a members to be the "Red Hatter of the Year". Nominees are made up of inspiring women who deserve recognition for the impact they have made in the lives of others... National recognition is given to a member who shows impact, dedication, and involvement to her community and fellow members."  Wikipedia

ODBD stamps used: Good Day
ODBD paper: Boho Bold
I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder for the bottom purple layer and
I've added 2 ribbons, buttons and rhinestones to embellish this card.
My oval is popped up with foam tape and for my buttons I used embroidery floss to thread them with and tied them on top.  I've used an old sketch from Splitcoaststampers that I like a lot and use quite often.
These new stamps and dies are so much fun!!
If you are like me, you love to see lacey, frilly, girlie things on a card!!
It is so funny that I would like these things since I'm a bit of an outdoorsy cowgirl type person!!  Just goes to show that the way we live our lives does not define what we consider beauty.

DRS Challenge #226-It's A Guy Thing!

Good morning!
Time for another DRS challenge!!
Any masculine card!!
I used tool dies from ODBD and the A2 Rectangle Nesting dies from Spellbinders to make my frame.  I then covered it with foil and die cut to match, embossing at the same time.  I used a metal working tool to make an even better impression then rubbed black acrylic paint over it and wiped off the excess...it mostly stays in the crevices.  I rubbed metallic copper Inka Gold on it and then some patina color paint as well.  I added some torn stripes of duct tape (hubby's) and then set it aside until I finished my inside image and sentiment.  I stamped it with VersaFine Black and heat set then used a bit of color pencil to color the tools slightly, added some duct tape to the corners and then die cut it to be smaller than my frame...I wanted some black to show around it.
I will stamp a Father's Day sentiment on the inside ( I think this would be perfect for my hubby as he is in construction.).

You can also upload your own submission there,  There is a prize given out each week to one random winner.

ODBD New Scripture/Coffee/Tea Set

Good morning!

With this post I am featuring another card made from the new
My Soul Thirst set, designed by Diana Nguyen, my sister designer from Our Daily Bread Designs.

I used an old sketch from an ODBD challenge.
I've used the Shabby Rose paper collection to stamp the scripture and the tea/coffee cup as well.
They are die cut with the new Pierced shapes (Rectangles and ovals).  I also used the Ovals and Double Stitched Rectangles for matting.
The background circle was done with the Doily die and circle for the frame and the new Majestic Medallion die for the inside.  To embellish, I added a butterfly from the Butterfly and Bugs stamp set and Butterfly and Bugs die set along with some ribbon, embossing folder, and enamel dots.
My ribbon is actually seam binding dyed to match and scrunched while drying to wrinkle.
Come see all the new products from Our Daily Bread Designs HERE.

DRS challenge #225-Hot Trends-So Distressed!

Good morning!
Time for a new challenge at DRS Designs!
The challenge is to distress: (use any image, paper, technique, die cut, but add some distressing..think tearing, distressed edges, grunge, splatters, sponging the edges, etc.)
DRS stamps used: 325L Jumping Fish and 1103D Hooked on You

I stamped and die cut my image then colored it and got out my handy dandy distress tool (by Tim Holtz) and roughed up my edges.  I die cut the next size up (Spellbinders A2 Rectangles) from Kraft and distressed the got a piece of corrugated stock and inked the edges (I slightly inked the edges of all layers).  I cut a blue layer about 3 2 sizes bigger and then cut and folded my Kraft card last  (I roughed up all edges including the card base).
Before gluing my layers together, I got out my piece of burlap and cut some off the unraveled a bit from all sides.  I took a strand that had fallen off the main piece of burlap (it was long) and wrapped my image panel then tied a knot carefully as it is not as sturdy as twine (twine would have looked the same in case you want to make a card like this).
Now this part you can NOT tell my sweet hubby...I went to the garage and took one of his handmade flies, cut off the hooked end and glued it to my knot on the image panel.  Ok, you are sworn to silence!  Don't feel too bad for him, I think because I rarely go fishing anymore, he took all my lures and flies and put them in with his!
This card would be perfect for most any guy and you could change the sentiment to fit the occasion.
Speaking of sentiments...almost forgot, mine is popped up and I added a square copper brad to the end.
Thanks for visiting today, to see all the challenge samples, please visit the DRS blog site.
You can also submit your own distressed creation there.

ODBDSLC274-May Flowers

Good morning!
Time for a new challenge here at Our Daily Bread Designs!!
The challenge is April Showers Bring ODBD May Flowers.  This challenge is to use flowers whether it be designer paper, flower embellishments or stamped flowers but you must use at least one item from ODBD to enter.

ODBD stamps used: Tea Time
ODBD dies used: Majestic Medallion, Pierced Rectangles, Ovals, Tea Pot and Roses
ODBD paper used:Shabby Rose Collection
I cut an oval out of the rose paper and then cut a sage green frame to go on top.  I cut the Majestic Medallion background and the cut it to size to fit under the oval.  It is backed with a pretty light pink.  I wanted something for my tea pot to sit on so I made a lace border that it appears to be sitting on.  The sentiment is cut with the ovals and popped up and lastly I added a pretty pink linen ribbon and bow.

Matthew 6:26-30
26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? 27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?
28 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, 29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are.30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?
This scripture came to mind as I thought about May flowers.  I'm hoping someone out there needs to hear this today!  May God bless you!

ODBD May New Release

Good morning!
Welcome to Our Daily Bread Designs New May Release Blog Hop!

Who doesn't like pretty flowers, tea cups and frilly things?
That is what May is all about with flowers blooming, Mother's Day and everything coming to life!

One of my favorite colors is purple so today my first card features this beautiful hat just right for a ladies tea and the color purple.
I used the new Majestic Medallion (part of it) as a decorative element behind my beautiful hat and framed it with the pretty Layered Lacey Square.  I had to add pretty flowers of course, to go with the pretty flowers  on the hat. The flowers are tipped in blue ink and purple ink and filled with Prills (US Artquest).
I used an embossing folder on the background along with the Pierced Rectangle then trimmed the bottom with a pretty sheer purple ribbon and bows.

ODBD stamp set, Good Day and ODBD die sets, Majestic Medallions, Pierced Circles, Pierced Rectangles, Pierced Ovals, Fancy Foliage, Double Stitched Squares,  SquaresLayered Lacey Squares and Easter Eggs

My second card features our own Diana Nguyen's design,
new this month as well.
I embossed the background panel on this card as well and did my framing with the Lavish Layers and Filigree Frames. I cut my image out with the Pierced Rectangles. I love the color combo of green and pink and I happened to have some pretty ribbon the exact color I needed to finish off this card.
