DRS Challenge #237 Naked Stamping

Good morning!

Naked Stamping?
Don't color anything..leave it naked..you can use colored ink, but don't color it!

DRS Designs stamps: 1071G To Have and To Hold, 026G Silhouette Bride and Groom, 201H Love is Patient, 631P Open Plaid, 1092H Dogwood Branch
I stamped the sentiment, Love is patient with VersaMark and embossed with gold on ivory stock then stamped and embossed the wedding couple on top of it.  The stripes (Open Plaid), flowers and the sentiment, To have and to hold, was done in the same fashion. All panels were die cut and then matted in gold metallic.  I fussy cut the sentiment and added it to the stripes.  Finally, I added a metallic gold double bow.
This was a very fast and easy card but still elegant for a wedding or anniversary.

ODBD Weekly Inspiration

Good morning!

Here is another card using the Forever Friends stamp set.

This card is very dimensional.  I've popped up several layers including some of the flowers.
I started by stamping and masking 4 flowers on the white base (Later used the Pierced Circles to cut "out of the box" style). I stamped two more flowers on a separate piece of white card stock and fussy cut them out.  I decided on a mixed bouquet of colors today seeing a picture of mixed Coneflowers on line.  I went with the flower colors for my matting and die cut layers.
My white rectangle layer is embossed using an embossing folder.  I finished off my card with some sheer pink and orange ribbon.

DRS Challenge #236 Color Inspiration

Good morning!
Time for a color challenge...yay!!

I did a Bendi Frame card for this serene beach scene; the base (5 3/8" X 4 1/4") has the lighthouse and boat stamped on it, line drawn for a horizon and shoreline drawn in then boat and lighthouse masked and sky sponged in with clouds (I used a torn paper towel and sponged blue, moved the paper towel up and over and sponged blue again and so on until my sky was done).
I then colored in my water, sand and scene using a bit of white paint to make shine spots on the water.  I used a palette knife and texture paste to make my waves then while the texture paste is still wet I added glitter to it.
I stamped my sentiment on another piece of white, die cut it into a circle and colored it yellow to be a sun in the sky...well, that was my intention.
I added a torn piece of tan paper on the base and added castle, shovels and bucket.
Now for the Bendi Frame part: I die cut the frame from a 5 1/2" X 4 1/4" piece of dark tan shimmer paper by picking a rectangle die the size I wanted my scene to be and then placed it in the center of my panel and there's my frame.  Now I added more torn tan pieces to the back of the frame (creating dimension) and added the chair and palm trees.  I threw the towel in with a tiny piece of stripe paper fringed at the bottom and glued to the arm of my chair. I also added coconuts using a hole punch and brown paper. The birds are glued to the base and one is popped up.
Now you can put your slightly larger frame onto your base.  Put foam tape on the two SIDES of your frame (none on top or bottom); starting with one side at a time, stick your frame to the base by matching up the edges on the sides, this will create your bend because your frame is 1/8" larger than your card base.
This idea came from Kittie Caracciolo at KittieKraft. She does the most wonderful scenes.
The chair, birds, castle and beach toys are dies from I.O. and the palm trees die is from Joy! Crafts.  The frame and circle stitched dies are from ODBD

ODBDSLC 276 Challenge Reminder

Good morning!
We have a reminder post for our monthly challenge today.
"Anything that grows with ODBD"
You must use at least one stamp or die from ODBD, Northcoast Creations or Artistic Outpost to join us.  ODBD has a very vast selection of gardening stamps. We can't wait to see your creations!!
There will be a $15 gift certificate  toward stamps for one random winner as well as one winner for the Shining the Light Award.

My card uses the Iris in "A True Friend" stamp set.
ODBD stamps: A True Friend
ODBD paper: Soulful Stitches

I stamped and cut out the iris and cut it away from the stem as well, turned it over and rounded the flower petals with a large stylist ball on a foam mat.  I then added some Flower Soft to the beards of the iris and placed foam tape on the back to attach it later.
I cut my layers with the iris colors (peachy pink and apricot), embossed the oval and popped up some of the layers over my decorative paper from the soulful Stitches paper pack.
I added my formed iris back onto the stem and glued a small bow on the stem to finish it off.
I then added pink and apricot pearls to my creation for some added elegance.
I hope you will join us for this challenge!!!

ODBD July Reminder Post

Good morning!

Today we are taking a look back at Our Daily Bread Designs July Release, here is my first card using the new You Bless Me stamp set.
I also used the new Vintage Borders die set and the new Ornate Ovals.
I used my old favorite Vintage Labels that match the Vintage Borders perfectly.

I stamped the gladiolas with VersaMark and then used pink embossing powder with a small spoon to cover just the flowers and the quickly tipped it to remove the excess without letting it pour over the leaves, I then used the light green to cover the leaf area.  Because the flowers were already covered, they did not pick up the green...I was going to do just white but did not like how it turned out so went with the soft colors.
I think it would make a lovely wedding card or special anniversary card.
I did a combination of white linen and white smooth for the layers to get a bit more definition.  My embossing folder is from Cuttlebug; this one works really well for when I want to add elegant pearls.

My second card is made with A True Friend stamp set.  I love the bearded iris and they come in so many colors and combination of colors.  I used a picture of a purple and white iris for this one.  I added some purple shading to the white so it looks a bit more purple than it should, oh well, I still love it!
The "beards" are covered with yellow Flower Soft.
In real life my ribbon matches the other purple much better!
I stamped and cut out this flower then colored it with Copics.  I used a combination of BV00, 01, 02 and V01, 12, 15 in color. The shading was BV20.
I love our Pierced Rectangles and used them for my out layers (embossing one layer with an embossing folder from Cuttlebug).  The decorative layers were cut with the new Layered Lacey Ovals, Ornate Ovals and an older favorite Filigree Frames.

The background is sponged with Tea Dye Distress Ink.  I used Copic E50, E53, E33 for the coloring on the Wags the Dog 1117F and Dog Bone 080A.  The Dog Paw Background 699H inside the oval was stamped with Desert Sand Memento.
I punched hearts and the paw print out of a dark brown (not black even though it looks that way).
The dog frame is popped up over the inside sentiment with foam tape from 3M company.

DRS Challenge #234 Hot Trends-Creative Piercing!

Good morning!
It's time for a new challenge!

(use piercing in a creative way..outline an image, pierce a butterfly trail, do a pattern in the corners, add some swirls or lines..you get the idea).

I found a die that is for doing sunrays (ODBD) and I used it as a guide to make my holes with a paper piercer. I also pierced around the sun.  I formed my sun using the reverse masking technique; I used a 1" circle punch to make my mask from a post-it and then placed it on my horizon and used another post-it on the horizon to keep the color out of the water and then sponged on the yellow ink.
I then used the circle part of the mask and covered my sun to make my sky (I also had to use a mask for my sailboat to keep it clean).
I used dies (Spellbinders borders and ODBD circles) that have piercing on them as well so that they would go with my pierced sky.

To see more inspiration for piercing and to join in the challenge (prize every week), please visit the DRS blog site HERE.

ODBDSLC276 Anything That Grows

Good morning!!
The challenge is: Anything that grows....with ODBD.  You must use at least one stamp or die from ODBD, Northcoast Creations or Artistic Outpost to join us.  ODBD has a very vast selection of gardening stamps. We can't wait to see your creations!!
Participants have until July 31st to enter the challenge HERE.

ODBD stamps used: A true Friend
ODBD dies: Vintage Borders, Vintage Labels, Vintage Flourish Pattern, Pierced Rectangles, Fancy Foliage
I started by stamping my iris twice and colored with Copics (following a color pattern of real Iris' found on Google) then I added yellow Flower Soft to the centers.   I cut them out and put foam tape on them then set aside while I built my layers.
I used the dies above and also used the Vintage Flourish Pattern die as an embossing method.
I added some white seam binding between layers and made a small bow with it as well.  After stacking and foam taping all my layers then adding my flowers, I cut some Fancy Foliage flourishes and stuck them in under the flowers. Stamped my words and die cut them with the Vintage Labels (that go perfectly with the new Vintage Borders dies) and stuck it up under the bottom flower, glue on one side and double layer of foam tape on the other.
Copic colors are: RV10, RV02, R20, RV04, Y13, Y15, Y35, Y38, BV20 (for shading the white), G82, YG63.

Psalm 138:8

The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lordendures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.
I'm sure you have heard it said "God is not finished with me yet"...well that is certainly true.  We don't have to worry that God might leave us half baked, he will work with us till we see Him face to face.  If we think we have already "arrived" spiritually, He has THAT problem to deal with, spiritual pride.  Be humble and let God keep making us more like Jesus every day!  If we want to be like Him, we have to know Him, if we want to know Him, we have to read His word (everyday).  You can not read it once and think you know it, it is living and active, each time you read His word you find another nugget of truth (which then needs to be digested!!) God is a life-time study, our reward will come, we will know all things when we see Him face to face.
1 Corinthians 13:12
12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

ODBD July New Release

Good morning!

I'm so excited about the new July release!!  FLOWERS!!
I love beautiful flower stamps but there's more, beside the gorgeous flowers are new decorative oval die sets!!!  Each set has 5 dies and every one of them is just amazing!!
Come hop along with us to see all the beautiful creations!

My first card is the Coneflower (in my part of the U.S. the colors are generally yellow and orange).

I used the new stamp set called Forever Friends for this card along with the Layered Lacey Ovals die set, the Filigree Frames, Ovals and The Ornate Borders and Flowers (corners).  Also added: Embossing folder, ribbon (seam binding), pearls, Stickles and foam tape.
I stamped on white, colored then cut out using the "out of the box" technique (both cards were done this way).  I popped up the blue oval layer.
Stickles was added to the flower centers to add a bit of dimension.

My next card  is the Gladiolus from the new stamp set, You Bless Me

I went on line to find colors for these flowers and wow, they come in a LOT of different colors.  Some are solid color and others are two toned like this one I colored, but all are beautiful!!
The dies I used on this card are the new Ornate Ovals, and favorites Lavish Layers, Pierced Rectangles and  Double Stitched Rectangles.
I started out the same way with this image, stamping and die cutting using the "out of the box" technique and colored with Copic Markers.  On the second layer, I left the die on while I stenciled pink ink through the openings and onto the center so that it would show through my image layer edges.  I added some pink layers and lots of foam tape to pop up several layers.
I finished by adding ribbon and some pink acrylic baubles to each corner.
Also added to the flower centers is some yellow Prills (US Artquest).
